Here is a discussion of work that was done over a decade ago by Professor Lisa Sloan and her graduate student Jacob Sewall that predicted the impact of arctic ice loss would be high pressure systems over the Pacific would cause California droughts. Of course, that is just what we have seen over the last few years.
